Important Update!Hey all! I’m sad to report there’s some bad news about the project. I, Head Mod Cat, have some unexpected personal ongoings that have made this zine too hard for me to responsibly oversee. I decided it would be unfair to everyone, especially the mod team I was very literally in the midst of putting together, should I continue with the zine. (Please check your inboxes as I’ve contacted every mod applicant. Rejection responses will be normal while my desired applicants will have this issue addressed). The project will be put indefinitely on hold for the time being. It’s very frustrating and disappointing as I’ve already put months of labor into the project, much of which was done before I ever started posting here on social media. While I’d love to return to the project one day, I’m rather defeated at the moment. So I greatly apologize for everything and want to thank you all for the wonderful support I’ve gotten for this zine. If the project does come back it’ll likely be with another head mod to make sure there’s someone to fall back on should things go south with one of us. Or it’ll be as an easier to manage exclusively digital format to ensure I can still cover all bases despite what goes on in my personal life. This zine is still a big dream of mine that I’d love to see come to life somehow.

FAQ
Q: What is a zine?
A: Zine is a term short for magazine. Zines can be a digital or physical book of art and/or stories that are often self-published and unofficial works. They are common in fandom culture but can be based around any topic/subject.Q: Is there an age limit for contributors?
A: Yes, all contributors should be 16+, and we also request that all moderators be 18+Q: If I'm selected for this zine, can I draw/write about my own cat?
A: Yes! We encourage contributors to share their kitties in artistic ways.Q: Is there a fee for contributor participation?
A: No, it's free to sign up and contribute to!Q: Will contributors will be compensated for their work?
A: All contributors will recieve a digital copy of the zine at minimum. If the project includes physical merch we will provide all contributors with a bundle should sales go well. However, as the proceeds will go to charity, the zine is a volunteer based project.Q: How many contributors are you looking for?
A: We'll have a more concrete answer for this as we complete our interest check! But at least 20 artists is our beginning estimate.Q: Can we include cursed drawings of cats? e.g cats robbing a bank, cats hijacking a car. nothing nsfw
A: If that's what your kitty living their best life looks like then sure!Q: Suggestion: we could have introduction/get to know pages for the cats of the contributors?
A: Absolutely! We thank you for the awesome idea!
About the Charity

Orphan Kitten Club is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to fostering neonatal kittens, adopting them out to permanent homes, and combating the domestic cat overpopulation crisis. The ASPCA estimates that over 500,000 cats are euthanized in shelters each year in the US alone. However, shelters are not the villains of this story. Municipal animal shelters are often legally required to take in all animals brought to them. Without the resources or willing adopters to support the sheer flood of animals, especially cats, they have no choice but to euthanize them in vast quantities. The majority of these cats are neonatals, which require far more resources and round-the-clock care to survive as opposed to adults.Where does this unimaginable flood of cats come from? Breeders, unspayed and unneutered pets, and most of all feral cat colonies. Through their full circle program, Orphan Kitten Club also works to humanely trap, neuter, and return (TNR) feral cats to help stop the overpopulation problem at its source. Each litter of kittens is traced back to its colony to ensure repeat litters won’t occur.
What else can be done to help?
Ensure your pets are spayed and neutered
Consider adopting or, better yet, fostering from shelters
Research TNR organizations near you and volunteer
Support your local animal shelter
Educate others on the domestic cat overpopulation crisis and ways it can be mitigated

Cat (they/them)
Hi! I’m Cat! And I’m, well, a major cat lover! I’m also an artist, writer, photography student, and long-time animal sanctuary volunteer. I’ve contributed to Star Wars zines in the past, but it’s been my dream to oversee a zine production for years now. I’m certified in Digital Media and Marketing from my local community college, and I run a few small art businesses. As a cat lover who has been diagnosed with nearly every form of anxiety under the sun, I thought a relaxing cat zine with all proceeds donated to a favorite feline charity would be perfect. I hope you join me on this cozy adventure!
